Julilla's fascination with ancient history is of some duration: early in her schooling, she was fascinated by tales of Greek and Roman myths read aloud by the school librarian. While studying for her baccalaureate degree she lived abroad in Salzburg, Austria, and travelled throughout Europe, including the countries of Greece and Italy.
Julilla is seldom without a book at hand, and chose her praenomen back in the winter of 1995 shortly after reading Colleen McCullough's The First Man in Rome. She registered on a discussion board for the online game SPQR and has been lost to modern sensibilities ever since. She ascended to the pantheon of demigoddess-hood at the former online community, AncientSites, and its inheritor, AncientWorlds.
Julilla speaks French, German and a smattering of Latin and Italian in addition to her native English, and lives in central Washington with her husband and youngest son. Both share her passion for history, albeit for different time periods, and are good-natured about dining on Roman cuisine.
